Editorial : Promoting children’s rights : rekindling respectivity

This is the penultimate issue of the SAJP with me as editor (as readers may be aware, Prof.Anthony Pillay will assume editorship from 1 January 2013). In this issue, I would like to air an issuethat has been troubling me increasingly in recent years.I will begin by sharing a few thoughts on my experiences as a researcher in disadvantaged areasin South Africa and then relate these experiences to the question of children’s rights. More particularly,I will deal with the plight of so many children in the country and suggest ways of improvingtheir situation. I will then briefly review the contributions of a general nature in this issue.
